Associate Professor Michael Freeman is The Skin Centre’s founding Dermatologist specializing in cosmetic and laser dermatology. Originally graduating from The University of Queensland in 1979, he has more than 40 years’ experience in the medical field.
In addition to his position at The Skin Centre, Dr. Freeman is the Director of Dermatology at the Gold Coast University Hospital, a visiting Dermatologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Bond University. While a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, he is also a member of the Skin and Cancer Foundation Australia and an international member of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Freeman helps to diagnose and treat people with a range of dermatological conditions and contributes greatly to the field through teaching and research. He is particularly interested in advancing the use of specialized lasers, educating other dermatologists and leading more than a dozen clinical trials in this particular area.
The Skin Centre has been an investigative site for clinical trials on psoriasis, actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, atopic dermatitis and many other dermatological conditions. Due to his extensive clinical experience, Dr. Freeman is often invited to lecture on topics in dermatology. In addition, Dr. Freeman’s involvement in clinical trials has allowed him to publish many articles in peer-reviewed journals.
