What is testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone (a chemical produced by your body).  It is commonly known as “the male hormone,” as males typically have higher testosterone levels than women.  Every male and female, however, produces both testosterone and estrogen (“the female hormone”).  Testosterone and estrogen play different roles in your physical, mental, and emotional development, and a proper hormone balance is highly beneficial to your overall health.
