Type 2 Diabetes Trial on Cardiovascular Events

Men and women at least 40 years old with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, may be eligible to participate. Individuals must have established cardiovascular disease (CVD), including at least one of the following: coronary artery disease (CAD), cerebrovascular disease, or peripheral arterial disease (supporting medical documentation is required). Hemoglobin A1c level must be ≥ 7% and ≤ 10.5% at screening. A willingness to learn how to self-inject treatment in the abdomen or thigh, is also required.

Participants will receive one of two investigational medications (active study drugs) via injection. Study medication and study-related care will be provided at no cost. Reimbursement for study-related expenses will also be provided.

Length of study participation could last about 54 months and involve about 30 visits to the study centre.
